Little Cottonwood Canyon (LCC) is home to endless recreation opportunities and the Salt Lake Valley’s watershed.

Many people visit LCC, creating traffic on busy ski days. To address this traffic:

UDOT is pursuing a three step approach, ending with a gondola.

Why is this a problem?

  1. Salt Lake Valley residents depend on LCC for drinking water. Construction would negatively impact the water quality.

  2. Utah tax-payers would spend $1.4B to subsidize private businesses

  3. The gondola would only benefit the ski resorts and the proposed development at the base station

  4. Traffic is severe on some weekends and holidays in the winter. Permanently altering the canyon for ~30 days/year fails to consider the scope of the problem

  5. The natural beauty of the canyon would be ruined

  6. The majority of canyon users would not be served

  7. The gondola is problematic for numerous other reasons. Learn more here.

Traffic congestion can be addressed by improving the current system.
